After we had some time to play with the iPad, download some apps and show it to our friends, we decided to update our client’s sites to HTML5 video.
The real issue was getting the older browsers to fall back to Flash smoothly. I developed a WordPress plugin that uses shortcodes to grab the video URL, detect browsers and displays the appropriate player.
If you’re looking at this in Safari or on the iPad, then you’re seeing the new, super smooth video player. If you’re on IE or Firefox, you get a Flash player that opens and plays an MP4 file.
